Bio-Plastics

Bring renewable, lower-impact polymers into your product line. Green Resource Technology’s Bio-Plastics product family covers compostable and bio-based polymers, custom compounds and finished formats (pellets, films, bags and injection-moulded parts) designed for packaging, agricultural films, disposable foodservice items and speciality industrial uses.

What this product is

Bio-plastics are polymers that are (a) bio-based (partly or wholly derived from renewable biomass) and/or (b) biodegradable/compostable under defined conditions. Typical feedstocks include agricultural residues, sugarcane, corn/starch and other plant sugars. Bio-plastics can either replace conventional plastics directly (drop-in bio-PE, bio-PET) or offer compostable/biodegradable alternatives such as PLA, PHA/PHB, PBS and starch blends.

Product variants

◉ Raw resin / Pellets : PLA, PHA (including PHB), PBS, PBAT blends and starch-based grades for thermoforming, extrusion and injection moulding.
◉ Films & Bags : Compostable films for produce, mulching and retail bags; custom thickness & printing.
◉ Rigid items : Cutlery, plates, cups and trays (compostable grades) or durable biobased parts (drop-in bioplastics).
◉ Custom compounds : Property-tuned blends for flexibility, impact resistance, barrier properties or faster composting.
◉ Add-ons : Master-batches for colour, UV or antioxidant performance; fillers and plasticisers compatible with compostable polymers.

Typical specifications & Processing notes

◉ Particle / Pellet form for standard processing (injection, blown/cast film, thermoforming).
◉ Melt temperatures and screw profiles vary : PLA needs controlled thermal profiles to avoid degradation; PHA/PHB can be more brittle and may require plasticisers or blending.
◉ Moisture sensitivity : Many bio-polymers require drying before processing.
◉ Compostable grades are tested to industrial composting standards.

Applications

Packaging (food trays, clamshells), shopping & produce bags, agricultural mulch films, disposable food service items, seedling trays and speciality consumer goods where biodegradability or biobased content adds value.

Environmental & End-of-life guidance

Bio-plastics can reduce fossil feedstock use and, where certified compostable, return to the soil as non-toxic biomass in industrial composting systems. Important caveats: compostable products generally require industrial composting conditions (thermophilic, controlled) to fully break down home composting or landfill disposal often won’t deliver the expected results. Clear labelling and local collection streams are essential to avoid contamination of recycling or composting systems.

Quality assurance & Testing

◉ Incoming-material QA (moisture, melt flow, biobased content tests).
◉ Compostability/biodegradation test reports (third-party lab results).
◉ Migration, food-contact and mechanical property testing where applicable.
◉ Traceability & CO₂-footprint documentation on request.

Packaging, Lead times & Commercial notes

◉ Supplied in bags or bulk (FIBC) with moisture-barrier liners for hygroscopic polymers.
◉ Lead times depend on grade and volumes; typical delivery 4–8 weeks for standard pellet grades; custom compounds require longer (6–12+ weeks) depending on formulation and certification tests.

Deliverables

◉ Technical data sheets and processing guides
◉ QA certificates and third-party compostability test reports (if applicable)
◉ Sample runs and scale-up support for moulding/extrusion lines
◉ Label-claim advice and end-of-life disposal guidance for consumers and clients
